I think twitter is a very cool and new way to help students
learn. It has allowed me to see how other students interpret a lesson while
also see some cool ways people are learning around the world. I think it is a
really cool concept and it is beneficial. It makes me think about this course
at other times than just in the classroom. Through twitter I am able to
interact with other students in this course and also with other educators or
education accounts. In the future, I think twitter could be very beneficial in
a career. It is a fast and easy way to connect with others and also learn about
different ways to do and interpret things.
The digital divide is defined as the gap between people who
do and do not have access to technology. This often can create a difference
among students. There may be some students who have little to no access to the internet
at their home and their school. There may also be students who have total access
to technology at home and at school. Students with access to the internet are
often at a greater advantage for success in school. They are more familiar with
the uses of technology and more willing to learn new skills. People with less access
to the internet and technology often enter college or the workforce at a disadvantage.
As a teacher, it is important to be sensitive to the divide and recognize the
students who may be less familiar with technology. It is also important, as a
teacher, to teach some technology learning so students are able to get a
background in technology and in the long run be more successful.
Specifically, for the subject area of math, the software I
would expect to use the most is productivity software such as word processing
and spreadsheets to tech graphing. These tools can promote active learning opportunities.
I would expect Imaging software to be used the least in a math classroom. This software
refers to converting and altering digital pictures which is not very necessary
in a math setting. Although I am sure there is a way to use every software in a
math classroom, some are definitely going to be used more than others.
