For my second ILP I took a time lapse video of an airplane taking off and landing. These videos could be used in a physics class to help explain the process. Instead of watching a full video of this process, which could be really long, time lapse videos are sped up but still show every party of the video. These videos allow people to view things in a faster and more efficient way rather than having to watch a video of something that could take a very long time.

I think data collection and excel tools are very useful for teachers. For example, if I were teaching third grade math, I could do surveys to collect data at the beginning of the year about what students already know or what they may be struggling with. Also, surveys could be used as projects or assignments for students to conduct. Excel could be used for many things such as attendance and a gradebook. Multiple sheets on excel allows for separation such as grades for tests, quizzes, or projects. Also, excel keeps everything very organized to go back and look at for further use.
Viewing classmate’s blogs allows me to think of more ideas about a certain topic. It also allowed me to see how other people interpret the questions differently than I do. From the blogs, I was able to learn new tools and ideas that could be used in future classrooms. I really like being able to see what other people think and expand my knowledge on whatever topic the blog is about.
Another technology related skill I would like to learn is Photoshop skills. I have worked with Photoshop a little bit in a photography class in high school, but I know there is so much more to learn. Photoshop skills can be useful for almost every field of study. Photoshop can be used to make so many different cool things and I would love to know how to do it. A way to learn this skill is to watch video tutorials or find resources on campus that can help.

The flipped classroom involves students listening to or
watching lectures at home and working on homework or classwork during the class
time. This allows students to be able to ask specific questions during their class
time. For three of my four years in high school, my math classes had this
flipped style. I really enjoyed it because you were able to get all your work don’t
in class. Also, I was able to get any questions I had on the homework answered
as I was doing it in class. With the flipped classroom method, it allows
students to re watch lectures or refer back to them whenever they may need. This
video shows how a flipped classroom works and could be helpful for teachers who
are deciding if they want to use this method in their classroom.
Open education, context, and sources refer to things or
information that is open to the public and doesn’t require admission to access.
These typed of things are typically offered online. One main advantage to open
education is that it is free. Students will be willing to learn more if they have
proper materials and if they do not have to pay for them. Open education offers
just that for students. More information on open education can be found at this
link.
While working on the two PowerPoint assignments, a new skill
I learned was how to disable the linear progress of the slides. I never knew
this was possible and I think it is very helpful because it makes student have
to actually work through the presentation rather than just pressing the arrow
keys. I think both of these assignments were fun because we were able to create
power points on anything we wanted. I’ve always liked making PowerPoints because
they are fun to make and don’t really seem like work.

PLN
Two examples of personal learning networks (PLN's) that teachers could use are Facebook (Facebook.com) and Pinterest (pinterest.com). Both of these websites can be very beneficial in the classroom. For example, on Facebook, teachers can create groups with teachers from all over the world to share ideas and help each other out. This is a cool way for teachers to see how other people are doing similar things all around the world. On Pinterest teachers can gain ideas and inspiration on how to decorate their classroom. Pinterest can also give ideas for class projects or assignments. Both of these websites can be very helpful PLN's for teachers to connect with others.

Adaptive technologies are
very helpful when it comes to supporting learners. With many different types of
learners, there have been many technologies invented to help improve these
special learners learning environment. I personally have not used any of these
technologies but I know they are very helpful. People with speech disabilities
are able to have a device speak for them. In classrooms, these technologies are
very useful because almost every student learns in a different way.
One challenge with
adaptive technologies is that there are so many different technologies and
different types of learners that it could be hard to find what works best. Also
with so many different types of learners, multiple technologies may be needed. In
classrooms, some of these technologies could also be distracting to students. Especially with young students, they get distracted very easily and more technologies used in the room could become very distracting.
This blog gives a
description of five different ways to keep up with technology trends. These methods
include: Web Media, Print Media, Social Media, Training, and Face-to-Face. This
article gives examples of and ways to use these methods to learn about new
trends within technology. http://www.summa.com/blog/2011/02/16/staying-on-top-of-your-game-5-ways-to-keep-up-with-the-latest-technology-trends
